We are only 2 weeks away from Christmas festivities and lots has happened since our last blog here at the Whitecourt District Agricultural Society.

On November 19th the Annual General Meeting was held. The current positions are now held by:

President: Malcolm Heaven

Vice President: Phoebe Repas

Treasurer: Mike Trithart

Julie Cook

Ralph Ament

Melvin Underwood

Brian Munday

Nicole McIllwrick,

Kris Underwood

Shelby Underwood

Holly Keough

Cindy Granley

Nicole Flood

Kyle Labossiere

Marie-Helen Comeau

Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who stepped up to be on the board.

Friday, December 7th anyone who was travelling past the hall may have noticed that there was a fire behind the water dug out. This was a controlled burn by the beautification committee. The large pile is much smaller, after the smoke settled but will need to be re-piled for a second controlled burn to finish off what didn't burn in the first fire.

Please, if riding your horse around the area be aware that many of the items in the pile may have left behind nails, metal and other sharp items. The committee will be going over the area with a magnet in the spring. Until then, please, refrain from riding around that area.

The Beautification committee would like to thank everyone for utilizing the new bins that have been set out. Revenue from the bottles in the recyclable bins is being set aside for improvements to the grounds.

We, at the Whitecourt District Agricultural Society, would like to wish you all a very safe and happy Christmas holiday and all the best in the new year!
