WCA Chuck-wagons announcement for Friday June 21, 2019.

Despite Whitecourt Woodlands Rodeo Volunteers hard work trying to get damage to the track from the rain rectified the WRA Officials have declared that they did not feel it would be safe to run the track tonight. There is tentative talk about the possibility of running the chuck-wagons on Monday in lieu of tonight.

The Whitecourt Woodlands Rodeo is still a go for 7 PM.

Rodeo information

Plan your vacation to the area in June so you can take in the Whitecourt Woodlands Rodeo. Every year, the Whitecourt & District Agricultural Society's rodeo committee work hard to make the event bigger and better than the year before.

The 2018 rodeo will be no different. Taking place June 22-24th, the weekend starts at 5 PM Friday at the Eagle River Casino Events Centre - Westward Community Centre is located on Hwy 32, 10 kms south of Whitecourt.

Part of the Wildrose Rodeo Association circuit and co-sanctioned by the Lakeland Rodeo Association and Foothills Cowboy Association, contestants face off in numerous events - Bareback, Novice Horse, Calf Roping, Junior Steer Riding, Steer Wrestling, Junior Bull Riding, Junior Breakaway Roping, Ladies barrels, Junior Barrels, Peewee Barrels, Saddle Bronc Riding and Team Roping. Whitecourt Woodlands Rodeo boasts the largest number of contestants within the three associations.

The GMC Pro Tour Chuck-wagons begin at 6 PM Friday night. It is a huge draw to have the WCA on-board for the first time and we're gauging a lot of excitement from the public with having the full-size chucks racing for all three nights of our rodeo.

Open Pro Bull riding will follow the chuck-wagons on Friday night. Even though classed as Pro Bull riding, amateurs may enter this open event.

Stock supplied by Miller Rodeo out of Athabasca. Rodeo clown and funny man, Tyson Wagner of St. Paul, will be featured throughout the weekend.

Gates open at 7 AM on Saturday, to allow for slack events. Gates open 8 AM Saturday. Daily concessions, 50/50 raffles, meat draws and beer gardens are available every day.

Kids infield games are a huge hit and will run Saturday and Sunday. These include Mutton Bustin', Pony Bronc and Wild Pony Races.

The Rodeo Marketand Whitecourt Wheels Car Club Show & Shine begine at 10 AM on Saturday. The Rodeo Market, held at the Westward Hall, features local artisans, foods, tack and western wear and even hot shaves for the cowboys. The market is expanding in 2018 to feature outdoor vendors, as well. Indoor vendors are located within the hall.

Free camping available with weekend pass and Saturday's dance will run from 9 PM - 2 AM with Nathan Cunningham band playing.

Stay tuned for the schedule of performances.

See you at the rodeo!
