Corona Virus 2019 and The 2020 Westward Christmas Market Update, August 2020
The vendor application date has been postponed until the first week of September.
There are still a few details that need to be ironed out and we want to provide the best experience possible.
Unfortunately, this will mean a delay in our date as we work with Alberta Health Service and the Alberta Government guidelines.
Please, be patient with us, as we work to keep everyone safe at our market.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause our vendors.
Covid-2019 and the 2020 Westward Christmas Market
With the government slowly opening up the economy in stages,
we are hoping that the 2020 market will take place, as planned, on November 14/15th.
Registration this year will be different than in years past.
Normally, vendors come to the Westward Community Centre to apply.
This year we will be doing online and snail mail registrations.
In August, we will release a vendor form on our website.
You may email or snail mail your application to the office.
Sending in this application will NOT guarantee that you are in the market.
We will be asking vendors to attach photos of their items for sale,
as well as, photos of what their display looks like.
If you have never done a market before, that is okay.
We will ask that you do up a mock table of what you hope to have your display look like.
More information will become available, once the application form is released.
We hope that everyone understands this contact-less application process is for everyone's safety.
Thank you all, for your understanding, as we work with legislation regarding pandemic safety guidelines.
2019 Westward Christmas Market Review
We had a pretty incredible market despite the blizzard and treacherous roads. Our shoppers were arriving in droves and we saw between 1600 and 1700 of the dedicated shoppers attend, proving that when there is a great sale, the people will come!
We had amazing vendors and it was wonderful to hear people comment about how much talent we have in the area. Of course one of our vendors seems to always appear in a great mood when it is snowing and Santa had the kids wrapped around his finger again this year, especially once he gave them a candy cane!
We do have some thank yous to extend.
First of all, thank you to Woodlands County for awarding blue tooth speakers for our daily winners who were:
Saturday: Mikayla W
Sunday: Brinnley B
Vendor prize: Judy O.
Next we would like to thank the Whitecourt Food Bank for all their help with food bank items that came in through the door. The community filled a few trucks and donated $1931.86 to this worthy cause.
Thank you to the Whitecourt Legion for allowing us to sell poppies on behalf of the veterans in our community and for the Whitecourt Legion Farmer's market for joining us!
Thank you to volunteers who helped make this a smooth weekend: Ranaye Jensen, Amber Jensen,Tara Bartsch, Brian Munday, and Phoebe Repas.
And finally, a thank you to the vendors who make this sale a pleasure and the shoppers who shop local, making this an amazing market. We couldn't do any of this with out you!

2018 Christmas Market Review
Another successful market has come and gone and we have many thanks to give!
We couldn't have done half of what we wanted to without the help of several people and corporations around town and the county.
First off, a huge thank you to the Whitecourt Legion for joining our market and allowing us to sell poppies for you. You add an amazing component to our market by selling your wares alongside the other vendors.
We would also like to thank Woodlands County for the daily draw prizes that we handed out this year. This year's door prize winners were: Saturday - Trista, Sunday - John and our vendor prize went to Karen.
Thank you to Rexall for offering shoppers and vendors the opportunity to receive free flu shots if they wanted them. The convenience for those who wanted to do so was greatly appreciated.
Thank you to Dynamic for the amazing and smooth running ATM! I think there were many shoppers this past weekend that were thankful for the ease of use and the availability of cash when they needed it!
Special thanks to St. Joe's students, Amber, Andrew, Austin and Emma who helped us out with the sorting of Food Bank items. You put your best foot forward and shone. You represented true citizenship and the spirit of the holiday. You give us hope of what the future will look like with your kindness and generosity!
Food bank volunteers who came to help organize the food bank items and transported them directly to the bank without delay were truly spectacular. Your team is a well oiled machine! The food bank was able to bring back a few carloads of food and over $2000 in cash donations. Whitecourt and Woodlands County residents, you are truly a supportive community. The food bank still has a long way to go to filling their shelves and feeding locals who would otherwise go without. Please, be sure to think of them throughout the year.
This market wouldn't be able to run year after year with out the support of the Whitecourt District Agricultural Society. They make sure that this market happens and have always been there to help make it bigger and better each year.
And finally, thank you to the vendors and to you, most importantly, the shoppers, for attending this market and helping to make it the best ten years that we have been able to keep bringing it back to you. You all make it worth it!
