2023 Whitecourt Woodland Rodeo

Local entries for the Rodeo and Junior Rodeo must be entered by Aug 24 & 25 by 5:30 pm.

If you’re a local or on your vacation to the area on August 4 - 6, you can take in the 2023 Whitecourt Woodlands Rodeo. Every year, the Whitecourt District Agricultural Society’s Rodeo Committee works hard to make the event bigger and better than the year before.

The 2023 Rodeo will be no different. Taking place August 4-6, the weekend starts at 5:30 PM Friday at the Rodeo Grounds at Whitecourt District Agricultural Society, located on Hwy 32 South, 8 km south of Whitecourt.

FRIDAY

Gates open at 4:30 PM on Friday night with Beer Gardens open at 4:30 pm.

It's a huge draw to have the All Pro Canadian Chuckwagon & Chariots onboard for 2023. "The Buckshot Bandits Drill Team" will perform between the Chariots and Wagons. Set for a 5:30 PM start, we’re gauging a lot of excitement for Chuckwagon and chariot racing all three (3) nights.

Free camping is available with a weekend pass.

SATURDAY

Grab breakfast at the Cook Shack starting at 8 AM on Saturday.

Gates open at 8 AM on Saturday. The Whitecourt Wheels Car Show will begin at 10 AM - 3:00 pm

Starting Time may Vary for the Junior Rodeo depending on Entries. Please check the website to stay Informed. Youth boys and girls compete in Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Team Roping, and Goat Tying.

Set for a 2:00 PM start, watch the Wildrose Rodeo Association (WRA) events, co-sanctioned by the Lakeland Rodeo Association (LRA) and Foothills Cowboys Association (FCA). Cowboys face off in numerous events - Bareback, Novice Horse, Calf Roping, Junior Steer Riding, Steer Wrestling, Junior Bull Riding, Junior Breakaway Roping, Ladies Barrels, Junior Barrels, Peewee Barrels, Saddle Bronc Riding, and Team Roping. Whitecourt Woodlands Rodeo boasts the largest number of contestants within the three associations.

Half Time we will have "The Buckshot Bandits Drill Team" demonstration.

Chuckwagons and Chariots run all three Nights at 5:30 PM

Change on Slack because of a conflict with another Rodeo will be after the Chuckwagons at about 8:00 pm.

8:30 Rodeo Dance at the Westward Hall on the Rodeo Grounds with the Band "The Bandits" from Wetaskiwin AB.

Daily concessions, 50/50 raffles, and beer gardens are available every day.

SUNDAY

Slack is changed to Saturday Night because of a conflict with another Rodeo.

Gates open at 1:00 PM. Beer Gardens open at 1:00 PM

Set for 2:00 PM catch Day 2 of Wildrose Rodeo Association (WRA) action, co-sanctioned by the Lakeland Rodeo Association (LRA) and Foothills Cowboys Association (FCA). Bareback, Novice Horse, Calf Roping, Junior Steer Riding, Steer Wrestling, Junior Bull Riding, Junior Breakaway Roping, Ladies Barrels, Junior Barrels, Peewee Barrels, Saddle Bronc Riding and Team Roping.

Half Time we will have "The Buckshot Bandits Drill Team" demonstration.

Kids infield games are a huge hit and will run on Sunday, taking place at the halftime show during the WRA Rodeo events.

Chuckwagons and Chariots run at 5:30 PM. Custom belt buckles will be awarded at the wrap-up.
